Check out the versatile entertainer extraordinaire, Kiki. She is a perfect blend of where Uptown meets Downtown. She relates to a diverse audience and has a loyal fan base.
Born November 17, 1979, Kiki has transformed herself into a chameleon of sorts, even despite a seemingly “tough upbringing”. A dancer, presenter, producer, radio disc jockey, actress and a model, Kiki had a typical childhood dream of being a veterinarian or a lawyer. “The vet thing was short-lived when I saw a dog on an operating table – and he died. I was really traumatized,” she said with a laugh. “The lawyer dream fizzled when I finished high school and let’s just say that I got side tracked.”
She is living one aspect her dream right now but she believes it all is merely a part of her journey – “the good, the bad, the lessons”. Her ultimate career goal is to open a creative arts centre. She hopes, through this medium, to expose children to acting and dancing and mix it with some extreme sports for a unique and memorable experience.
To take a step closer to fulfilling that dream, Kiki is working on plans for a TV Talk Show in the near future. But until then, she sits in the Digicel Rising Stars’ Chill Room and puts pen to paper. “I want to write a book that I’ll call – Memoirs of Strong Jamaican Women - that will encourage women that emotions are okay; others have endured what you’re going through and you can too.”
“I want to be remembered for the struggles I’ve had to face. I want to be motivation and accepted for all I’ve been through.”
